Angels Around Us - 5/6/11 Blog

Well, Hello Everyone!

It's been too long since my last post. So much has happened in the crazy month of April and now that it is all behind me, it's time to get blogging again. Last month's Mercury Retrograde really messed up my communication on all levels. So, I wanted to wait until I had the "all clear" : ).....

Today, I am drawn to talk about Angels. No matter what your beliefs are, you do have many angels around you. Not limited to, but including Guardian Angels and Archangels. I bet, if you stopped and thought about it you have had an encounter and/or assistance from an angel in some point in your life. Just think about it....have you been so close to some kind of accident and just "knew" it was unavoidable, only to not have that accident happen by mere milliseconds? Or, been gravely ill and "recovered". How about finding yourself in a not so safe situation, but you escaped unscathed? Then, my friend, you have had the pleasure of having an angel assist you.

Let me tell you about a couple of times I have experienced angels in my life. The first time that I was fully aware of an Angel coming to my aide was about 20 years ago. Ever since I was 11 years old, I have earned an income. I always had a job and never had a hard time getting one. Well, this time was the first time in my life that I wasn't working and I was feeling down about it. I receive a call for an interview and had to drive about 25 miles to get there. My gas tank was low and I knew I could make it to the interview, but it was "iffy" to make it back home. The interview went well and I got the job. However, on the way home on a major highway my car ran out of gas. Thankfully, I was able to coast over the the shoulder safely. I sat there and thought "oh boy, I sure want to cry", but I knew that crying wasn't going to fix anything. So, I started to pray for guidance and assistance. I decided I would get out and start walking to the nearest exit and hopefully find some place to make a phone call. As soon as I started to get out of my car, a van pulled over. In it were 4 or 5 men and one of the men came up to me as I was standing on the shoulder and offered me a ride. My gut was telling me that it wasn't a good idea. Then.........here comes a woman that is walking on the shoulder and goes around the van and she is making direct eye contact with me. She doesn't look at the man and comes up to me and says "I'm here to help you." I felt relief. Now, I have been standing on the shoulder of this highway and can see every car that goes by. There was not one car that passed by while I was briefly talking to the man in the van. NONE, ZERO, NADDA! So, I looked at the man and told him that I was going with the woman. He acted ticked off and said "whatever". So, I get into her car. It is a small plain gold colored car and she is just a regular looking person nothing stands out about her appearance.. I asked her where she came from since I didn't see her drive by. Her answer was "the shoe store". Funny, but there isn't a shoe store on Highway 44. But, I felt safe in her presence. She offered to take me home or to a gas station and even bring me back to my car. I asked her to just take me home and I would get help from there. It was so nice of her to stop and I didn't want to take advantage of her kindness. On the ride home, she reaches over and touches my arm. Then looks at me and says "God sent me here to tell you that he loves you." Well, needless to say that the crying I wanted to do earlier.....it couldn't be held back any longer, the tears started streaming down my face. I needed to hear that right at that very moment. When she got to my house, I thanked her so much. I was so grateful for her help. Then I walked behind her car and turned to wave and thank her again..........she was gone. I looked down the road and her car wasn't there. No way did she have time to get out of my eyesight. She was just gone, disappeared, vanished, poof! Yes, I know now that I was touched by an Angel.

So, time has gone on for many years. I've known that there are angels around me and can feel their presence. There have been many narrow misses, close calls and just scraping by moments that I know angels have kept me safe. I do talk to them and thank them all the time. Last year, I was on vacation in Florida with a couple of my best girlfriends. I had never been to Florida before, but they were pros at vacationing there. They got us a beautiful condo right on the beach and I could see, smell and feel the wonderful ocean right there. It felt like pure heaven to me. I was at peace and so grateful to be there. We were on the 3rd or 4th floor and had a really nice balcony that you could get to from the family room and one of the bedrooms. The second night there, I was sharing the balcony bedroom with one of my friends. She was sleeping closest to the door. In my sleep, I heard the most beautiful woman's voice singing a song I had never heard before. I couldn't make out the words and the voice was like a musical instrument. It's hard to explain, but it sounded very uplifting and joyous. Then I woke up, thinking I was dreaming this beautiful music but the music continued. I laid there for a while enjoying the music and knowing it was coming from the balcony. The clock showed it was a little after 3:00am. Something told me to get up and go look outside. As I pulled the covers off to get out of bed, I got scared at what I was going to see and abruptly the singing stopped. Since I know angels don't want to scare you, I knew what happened. I tried to convince myself and the singing angel that I wouldn't be afraid if she came back. But, it didn't happen. She knew I really wasn't ready. In the morning I asked my friends and other people at the pool if they heard the beautiful singing at 3:00am. Nobody heard it, not even my friend that was sleeping closest to the balcony. Again I knew that I had been "touched by an angel".

So my dear friends, I want you to take time today and remember when you have been "touched by an angel". Talk to your angels, ask them their names and they will answer you. The first time I asked for one of my angels name, the name I heard was Doreen. Since I don't know anybody by that name I knew it wasn't something that I was making up in my head. Then I got online and Googled the name Doreen. I got huge goosebumps when I read the meaning........"A gift from God".

On a Mission....3/31/11

Well, this has been a busy week and I have so much to say. But, with Mercury in Retrograde I am going to keep things simple...at least I'm going to try.

First, some of you may be asking "What is Mercury Retrograde?". Mercury is the planet that rules communication. Retrograde means this planet appears to be moving backwards. When it goes retro on us, that is when things can really mess with our communications, travel, appointments, email, legal documents...these types of things. So, I'm really being careful about this blog. If I mess something up here, I'm going to blame Mercury : ) Of course there is so much more to this Mercury reto thing and if you want to learn more, I suggest you contact a professional astrologer to get the best possible advise. FYI: Mercury went retro 3/30/11 and will be coming out of it 4/23/11. This will happen two more times this year, August 3, 2011 - August 26, 2011 and the last time this year will be November 24, 2011 - December 14, 2011 (send your Christmas cards after 12/14).

Now, onto some fun stuff. This weekend was the Gemstone Show in Bridgeton, off St. Charles Rock Road. I was determined to go there, as I had a mission to get two special people gifts. On Saturday morning, I met some girlfriends for lunch on The Hill. For those of you that don't know about The Hill in St. Louis, it is a wonderful little part of town known for excellent Italian cuisine. While we were eating lunch, it started to snow. So, since I had about a half hour drive I thought I better get going. On my way to the show, the snow started getting very heavy. I've never seen such large snowflakes. We are talking flakes about the size of hamsters. But, I went on my way. By the time I got there, the cars in the parking lot were covered. So, I knew I needed to find something special and not dally. If you have never been to one of these shows, I strongly urge you to go and it's hard not to dally. There is so many beautiful stones, jewelry, carvings and more. Where do I start? I wanted to get myself a geode. You get to pick a "rock" and they will crack it open and you get to see your "prize" inside. You never know what color the crystals are going to be until it's cracked opened. So, I picked a small one and inside were these gorgeous chocolate colored sparkling crystals. It was so pretty, I decided to get the next size up. That one had "angel wings" and grey crystals. Then I moved on........yes, there were many pretty things I wanted, but I was here to get gifts. I found the most wonderful Selenite eggs. Selentite is one of my very favorite stones. It has a high vibration that I can feel strongly coming from the stone. I knew these stones were the gifts I wanted. So, to tell you a little bit about the Selenite stone here is just some information on it:

By the time I left the show, there was about 5 inches of snow covering the ground. I'm please to say, both gifts were received with much appreciation. It was worth a trip in the snowstorm to get them. Also, I learned to listen to my "inner voice" when it told me not to exit onto Hwy 55. Let's just say I tried to take that exit and my car didn't want to make the turn. Fortunately, I was able to straighten out the car quickly and take the next exit. Next time I will pay better attention.

Okay, this blog is getting very long but there is one more thing I would like to mention before I wind things up. A Beautiful Week.....3/25/11

This has been an amazing week and I can't wait to share it with you. Were do I start....?

This past weekend, I was offered an incredible opportunity to assist in a weekend class for Reiki Level 1 students.  The class was both Saturday and Sunday from 9 - 5, but I had to be there by 8:30. I'm not a morning person, so you know if I have to be somewhere on the weekend by 8:30 that I REALLY want to be there. Words are hard to describe what this weekend was like, but I'm going to do my best.  But first, I must tell you about Carole, the Reiki Master Teacher for this class. I've known Carole for about 3 years now. She facilitates a Reiki Share that I go to and openly shares her knowledge, compassion and joy for life each month. It is such a pleasure to be in her presence. So, I knew that her weekend Reiki Level 1 class was going to be very special.....and it was. A healthy breakfast and lunch was provided both days and you could feel the love that went into the preparation and thought behind the menu.  Just for breakfast, we were offered herbal teas, an assortment of Greek yogurts, fresh fruit, bagels, energy bars and more. You can only image what our lunches were like.....YUM! So let's get started.

There were 6 of us in the class. Three of us were Master's and 3 were Level 1. It was wonderful that each Master was able to share their insights and knowledge and was paired up with a Level 1 student. The manual that we each received is perfect. Carole put so much energy and time into making it her own and it is priceless to me. In Level 1, you learn about the history of Reiki. So we learned the history and had our attunements on Saturday.  To understand Reiki, it is very important to know Reiki's roots and how it came about. There some attunements in Level 1, which I won't go into great detail about except to let you know that the attunement is what opens up the Reiki energy to flow through your hands. Everyone has different experiences during this process and I'll share mine. During this process, you are in a meditative type relaxation and I was seeing the colors yellow and green. Those are the colors of the solar plexus and heart chakras. Then, I found myself in a forest full of huge green trees and there were several wood oak doors (the kind that are rounded at the top) going deeper into the forest. Each door represented a path that was open for me to explore. I was dancing in the middle of them, so excited about all the opportunities that surrounded me. I had such a happy and excited feeling (in my heart and solar plexus chakras), it brought tears to my eyes. Side note here...if you aren't familar with chakras, I will blog about them another time, so keep following my blogs: )

On to day two. Sunday, a day to practice the use of Reiki. Now this is how to have a relaxing weekend! Plus, since I am a Reiki Master/Teacher and practice Reiki daily, the Level 1 students did most of the giving so they could learn to use their new Reiki energy. Let's just say that I floated out of there at 5:00. There wasn't a thing on my body that had any kind of ache, nor did I have a single worry. I was in a state of pure bliss.

Part of learning how to use Reiki is to learn about the chakras, where they are on your body and how to make sure they are working properly.  It wasn't any surprise to me when after my throat chakra was checked, it wasn't working properly. The throat chakra is important for communication and I have an "issue/fear" of public speaking. Along with Reiki, I will use crystals for energy healing.   I decided to work with the Labradorite by putting a pendant that I had on my throat. Well, this is what happened. Carole had each of us read a portion of the Reiki ethics out loud...gulp, oh no! But I didn't wait to be last, I actually asked if I could go first. What, who asked that, was that really me??? Yes, that is the truth.

So, that is how I spent my weekend. After a Reiki attunement, your body goes through a 21 day cleanse or detox. It effects everyone differently and you need to be real gentle with yourself during this time. The first few days I had tears run down my face for no reason. I wasn't sad, just felt the need to release some tears. I have had cravings for healthy food and I'm eating lots of fruit, nuts and vegtables all week. Water taste so good. The smell of sausage cooking had me running out the door, yuck! And....then need for sleep and to relax. I do have to work and I take several classes, so this has been harder to do. So, I decided to be good to myself today and write this blog instead of working. Tonight, I am off to a Reiki Share with my sweet friend Alison....

Gratitude and Blessings this week 3/17/11

Happy St. Patricks Day!

What a beautiful morning, just look at that sunshine! A great day to get outside and soak up the sun. I will be going outside barefoot this afternoon to touch in with Mother Earth and let the Sun energize me. It is just amazing how the energies of Nature can fill and lift your spirits. Why don't you go out and touch in with Nature's healing energies, too?

I have a few things I wish to share with you this week. First of all, on Monday the 14th, I had my first Reiki Share at Pathways. I have to admit, I was a wee bit nervous faciltating it. But, it turned out to be wonderful. First, a group of 5 of us all touched in with each other and learned a little about each other and our energies. We had a very positive and powerful group of healing energy workers. As it turned out, we were all taught Reiki by the same Reiki Master Teacher and we were all Reiki Master's ourselves. Before we got started with our healing, I shared a poem that a dear friend of mine wrote. Judy (aka: Zenya Weaver) writes beautiful poetry and I had asked her to write one for me to read at this Reiki Share. With her permission, I will now share it with you. Please note that Judy's poem is copywrited as of 3/11.

Signs & Symbols

Signs & Symbols as unique as they can be. I look to them for guidance and protection as they watch over me.

Everywhere you look - open your eyes and you will see that the special messages that you are receiving are from your Higher Self to thee.

The signs and symbols they are all around, some more distinct and others even more profound.

I look at a flower and what do I see, Strength, Courage, Beauty that is what I find in me.

I made a journey in my resting time. I saw drawings & pictures created in my mind. I heard a gentle whisper calling out my name, look to me, know me for your life is about to change.

I am the symbols of what is yet to be. Trust me, love me & believe in me.

In time you will find the path that you seek. The journey is long & sometimes hard on the meek, for they did not remember that symbols do speak.

So listen closely when you hear the birds sing. Is that just a song or a symbol so sweet? 

As it was my turn to receive a Reiki Session that evening, I was surrounded by four wonderful healers. What I felt was pure love coming from each one of them. There was a "floating" sensation and it was as though I was being lifted up and held by angels. Yes, I truely felt the Angel presence in the room. The stress of the day moved out the bottom of my feet, my heart was filled up with a very gentle feeling of being loved, all the pain in my knees and shoulder were gone. Peace, Love, Joy...too beautiful for words to describe. There I was, swinging in a hammock surrounded by large, lush green trees while I was reading a book. I was in a place that I wanted to stay for a long, long time.

We each shared our experiences. Since I forgot to ask permission to Blog about the others in the group, all I can share is this. Everyone of us are looking forward to next months Reiki Share. Stress was released, pain removed, relaxation, love, happiness and journies taken were just some of the words used to describe everyones Reiki session. Yay! That is what it is all about.....

As the session ended, I wrapped it up with a healing prayer for the people of Japan. My friend, Carole, sent this prayer to several healers and with her permission I will share it with you. The tsunami and earthquake has caused so much pain and suffering. Everyone of us need to send as much love and healing energy to the people of Japan. Please say this beautiful prayer for them and feel free to share it with others.

Divine Creator of every nation and every human being, we lift up our prayers for the land and people of Japan. Let our Mother Earth be gentle with her, and spare her further disaster as she struggles to recover from the earthquake and tsunami.

Have Mercy.

Welcome into the heavens all those who have died, and send your angels to comfort and console all those who have lost loved ones.

Have Mercy.

Bless and guide all rescue workers, and give hope and comfort to those who are still waiting for news of their family and friends.

Have Mercy.

Send your healing light upon all those who have lost their homes, and those who are working to care for them and provide them with food, shelter, and warmth.

Have Mercy.

Shield and protect all those who are living near nuclear power plants, and all those who are working to prevent a nuclear disater.

Have Mercy.

Bless and guide those in the rest of the world whose hearts are going out to the people of Japan. May their loving thoughts, prayers, and actions be a source of help and comfort to those who are suffering.

My Reiki Session Today 3/11/11

Once a month my friend, Daniela, and I exchange a Reiki Healing Session. We are both Reiki Masters and Certified in Gemstone Crystal Healing. This month was my turn for Daniela to work on me. I LOVE these sessions, both receiving and giving. Everytime we work together, we have a wonderful healing experience and we also learn something new. We both like to use crystals in our healings. While the Reiki energy is powerful on it's own, the use of the crystals really amplify the experience. As the session started, I was gently floating along nice and relaxed. Daniela's hands knew right where to go. I did not tell her my shoulder and knees were bothering me, but she picked up on it and paid extra attention to these areas. I could feel the energy flow out the bottom of my feet and knew that she had released an energy blockage. She had placed crystals on my chakra's and in my hands were Selenite and Garnet. Selenite is a stone that I love to have around me. It is a calm stone that is good to use in meditations and spiritual work. The Garnet (my birthstone) is said to stimulate the metabolism. Yay! Think I'll start carrying a chunk or two of Garnet with me in my pocket. As soon as those two crytals were put in both of my hands, it kicked the vibrations up a notch. Now I was flying, seeing light and colors, people standing around in a circle holding hands. I felt this to be people working together with me to complete a project. Could this be my Healing Center coming together, it sure felt like it? This was a very peaceful and loving feeling. Then there were Egyptian Deity's holding a blue and gold crown on a pillow and another holding a robe across his arms. These I understood to belong to me. Hmmm, was I a Queen in a previous life??? : ) Perhaps!

When the session was over, I was so relaxed and peaceful. It took a while for me to want to move. Now it is time for Daniela to share with me what she experienced. All of my chakra's were very high and spinning like they should be except for my 5th charka. That is the throat. It is the chakra for communication. Well, if any of you know me you know I do not like to speak in public. If you get me in a small personal group, I'll talk your arm off. But, speaking in front of a crowd scares the voice out of me. So now, my throat chakra is working great as I Blog my experience. Here is the message that Daniela received for me "Joyously release the past, be flexible and courageously embrace the new". Then she saw me dancing in the middle of a lush garden being blessed and sprinkled with sparkling dust. WOW! What a powerful message. It made so much sense. Release what is not needed any more......YES, I will do that.......the past is the past, can't change it so no need hanging on to it, let it go. BE FLEXIBLE....Yay, I am about as flexible as you can get. Things happen that we have no control over, so be it. EMBRACE the NEW...I say "bring it". I am so excited for the new things that are happening now and coming to me. This is such a positive change as I continue to learn and grow spiritually. I hope you will follow and grow along with me. Hi and Welcome to my Blog!

I’m Karen Williamson, a Reiki Master and healer certified in Gemstone Crystal Energy Work. Currently, my ongoing studies include spiritual development, herbs and aromatherapy. These explorations opened up and continue opening for me so many doors enabling me to enhance my personal growth and development. It has been so beautiful and fulfilling. I have met many wonderful people from all walks of life.

One of them is my friend Daniela who will be a part of this blog's creation as well. We have been in a way witnessing each other’s journey over the past year or two through sharing the lessons we have learned, practicing new skills with each other and providing support and inspiration for each other on our personal paths of self-healing, growth, learning and re-igniting the inner creative spark within.

Each week we will be posting a short commentary about a personal experience that we embraced that week with the intention to share with you the joys and challenges of the path that follows once the inner creative spark is re-ignited within one. At times the posts will be notes on an experience from a Reiki session, while at other times it will be a personal sharing of the lessons and personal “discoveries” made through interacting and working with gemstones, plants, books, travels and other new and old friends that enrich our individual yet at times shared paths.

May these blog notes allow us to give you a glimpse of the joy, beauty and excitement that fills our days and may it inspire and motivate you to embrace your own inner creative spark and your own journey of self-healing, growth, learning and more.
